A FEW WEEKS AGO WE CAUGHT UP WITH HER FOR AN UPDATE AND A MOTHERHOOD SHOOT. IT’S A BEAUTIFUL STORY OF HOPE DELAYED, AND NOW, HOPE FULFILLED. WE KNOW HER STORY WILL PUT COURAGE IN YOUR HEARTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WALKING A SIMILAR ROAD. BE ENCOURAGED.

WE GOT OUR MIRACLE!
After 4 pregnancy losses to say that this pregnancy was a mind game is an understatement. I was a woman on edge! This was my 6th (yes 6th) pregnancy and at that point I had only got to welcome one of my babies earth side. Every single day, even every hour was a mind game to journey through those 9 months.
I was terrified to actually get excited and hopeful that this would be our one. I also told my husband that if we lose this one I don’t think I can keep trying… I can’t believe I was talking like that actually carrying the baby I now hold in my arms... “if we lose”… oh man. I had already started researching adoption.
But then my Dad said to me “you have to protect this baby from the past, this is a new baby and he/she doesn’t know your history”. Something in me clicked as I let my Dad’s words sink in and I decided to expect my baby, hope for him/her and enjoy my pregnancy. It wasn’t easy, night times and trips to the toilet (just being honest) were incredibly hard.
Then just like that she was in my arms. My beautiful baby girl who we named "Patience Atarangi". "Atarangi" means "morning sky". She is our morning sky of our new day. Our baby girl.
While she doesn’t replace the ones we lost, she didn’t even heal my broken heart. Only God can do that kind of work. But man oh man did she light up our world and fill our hearts with so much joy! Our baby girl!
